Odzi, Zimbabwe is located on the east side of Zimbabwe near the Mozambique border. The town is mainly made up of displaced people who are not employed and have very little means to sustain their lives. However, there is tremendous potential with education of the children and providing an infrastructure for economic development. The continuing projects in our upcoming mission will aid in a small way towards this initiative.

We have enjoyed a mission relationship between Mount Olive Missions in Anoka, MN and DOCAS (District Outreach for Care and Support) in Odzi for the last 8 years. The Mount Olive Missions team has taken short-term missionaries to Odzi each year to provide leadership training, discipleship training and work with area schools sharing the gospel and providing school supplies. We have distributed over 500 Bibles, (Study Bibles and Shona Bibles) and provided funding for a borehole (water well). We have also sent multiple 40’ shipping containers filled with hospital beds, wheelchairs, crutches, nursery kits and other critical supplies to support the DOCAS ministry and mission.  The first shipping container received was successfully converted into an Internet Café which provides education communication and facilitates the development of the entire Odzi community through access to the outside world.  Medical training and solar panel acquisition was realized with our trip in 2014, 2015 & 2106 to continue growth for the region.

Due to this relationship, our ministry has expanded to include the establishment of the Mount Olive Mission Hospital. Only through God’s blessing and leading could we even begin to realize this project. It is at times overwhelming to think how God is using our small church in Anoka, MN to do the life-changing ministry that He has set before us! Part of our 2015 & 2016 mission included renovations to the facility buildings and 17 acre compound that are used to develop the hospital.

We were very excited to have personnel returning along with new medical team members on a 2015 mission trip that continued the training local medical staff in Odzi on the best way to treat and care for children and patients who are disabled with muscular dystrophy and other illnesses. They provided physical therapy training, equipment training, hygiene training and held classes in preventing HIV/AIDS. We have even more new medical team members joining us on our upcoming trip November 2017.

A third shipping container departed from our partner Global Health Ministry in early August 2015 and was delivered in Odzi November 2015.  A third round of laptops for the students who graduated from the computer technology training were delivered in June 2016 as well.  A multi-day teaching conference will be provided to local health professionals in Zimbabwe by Dr. Peter.  Physical therapists who were part of our medical team in 2014 provided training and coaching for improved care of the DMD patients. This training was delivered in 2015 also and will be again for the upcoming trip in November 2017.
